I’ve been trying to figure out what to put in this blog post for the last two days and after not being able to put words together, I’m just going to type until there aren’t any more things to type. It starts with THANK YOU. Thank you to the people who came out for Geek Go Glam. Thank you to the sponsors who made it happen. (High fives to Think Geek Solutions, Quirk Books, WattPad, Kombucha on Tap and High Voltage Magazine!) Thank you to the human volunteers that came out and helped us put all the details together.
And of course: Thank you to my love Megan, AKA The Nerdy Girlie for being an incredible co-host and friend throughout the entire process. I am constantly amazed by the beauty of your soul and spirit and you have added so much to my life. I really believe that I’ve become a better person because of that woman.
Life handed Megan and I very major blows about three months ago at the exact same time. Having a broken heart is a lot like having a limb removed, because you find yourself so sad and so vulnerable, grasping for a hand in the breeze that isn’t there. In so many ways, Megan’s hand was the hand that got me through those moments, both physically when we were together and emotionally when we were apart. And it could have caused a lot of different things to happen, but the thing it really did was make us incredibly close. And it gave us the courage to take on a grand distraction. Geeks Go Glam started as that distraction. But in the end, it really came together because she and I came together to support each other. And I’m incredibly proud of that.
San Diego Comic Con can be an exhausting endeavor, but it’s about these moments in time that get lost on us during the rest of the year when our lives get busy. It’s about coming together and celebrating the things that make our hearts sing. For me, my fellow lady geek bloggers are one of those things.
SherlockeDCC was an incredible success in its third year for the same reason. And we at the Baker Street Babes owe so many people thank yous for that too. I promise to get to that in a future blog post. Instead, I’m going to focus on the now and say: as I go about the last 24 hours of this Con, I am reminded to hold some hands for a few more hours. Hug harder and longer, because we can. And to wish each other beautiful blessings of bravery and grace on our journeys during the rest of the year. Live long and prosper, my friends. Thanks for being part of my journey.
Sometimes awesome things happen. Right now is one of those times. Why? Because I’m happy to announce that the awesome giveaways for Geeks Go Glam are being provided by ThinkGeek Solutions!
Many people know the main ThinkGeek store for their many amazing wares, but not as many are aware of the very cool work of their Solutions counterparts. Those peeps make online stores and official merchandise for major gaming brands including Betheseda and BioWare. I know you love their games, but I’d bet you’d love their awesome merch too.
We can’t tell you exactly what they’re going to be giving away, but if the previews we’ve been seeing are any indication, you definitely have every reason to be excited about it.
We’re so grateful to all our sponsors and can’t wait for you to meet them. If you haven’t already seen: we’re going to have a great photobooth brought to you by Quirk Books and one of their newest titles: The Fan Girl’s Guide to the Galaxy. And swag for EVERYONE from the amazing WattPad. Music will be going all night with the awesome LA-based band, The Filthy Souls, thanks to High Voltage Magazine. And of course, you’ll be thirsty after walking around all day, so we’re really excited for you to meet Kombucha on Tap, who will be bringing us fresh Kombucha and brewed ice coffee.
I can’t believe it’s finally happening this week!

Geeks Go Glam is going to be wicked awesome. Yup. It’s true. And it’s not just because I’m behind the scenes and know all the killer details. It’s because I can now tell you about more amazing details!
We’re so excited to announce our musical sponsor, High Voltage Magazine! And of course, we have to announce that they are bringing us Dave of The Filthy Souls as our musical act for the evening!
You may already know that Megan of The Nerdy Girlie works for High Voltage Magazine, but none the less, having even MORE of our nerdy loves in attendance makes me even more excited for the party to start!
High Voltage Magazine was created in 2003 by music fanatics who wanted to share their love for music with the rest of the world. They started as an online publication and in March of 2006 their first print issue of High Voltage Magazine was released.
Maybe you have been wondering what we’re going to drink at our party. I mean, after all that walking around, you’ll probably be dehydrated and malnourished. Well, we are happy to tell you that we’ve partnered with Kombucha on Tap to offer everyone fresh Kombucha during the party! Kombucha On Tap distributes the best kombucha & craft draft coffee on tap to restaurants, bars, health spas, coffee shops, businesses, homes, & more. They are a really fantastic little company and we’re excited for you to be able to meet them. You can learn more about them here.

Ok, so now that we have that out of the way I want to talk about the questions people have been asking me about this party over and over again. Here’s the deal: no, it’s not strictly required that gents wear a suit! Just be clean and nice and friendly and we’re happy to welcome you. Here are some more answers to your questions:
FAQ:
1. Do I have to really wear a suit?
A: No! This is not a requirement at all! Being glam can happen in shorts. And if you’re really brave, you can wear a tuxedo t-shirt! No hate from us.
2. It’s going to be hot in San Diego, are you sure we should dress up?
A: We understand! Ladies have it much easier with skirts and dresses! For the dudes, feel free to go for beach glam. Or kilts. Just come with a smile and a good attitude!
3. There are other parties that night, will I miss anything if I come later?
A: No! Our party starts at 8, but there will be activities all night long. It’s a mixer with fun and treats and entertainment all through the evening.
4. Can we buy tickets at the door?
A: Currently, we are not offering tickets the night of the event, so please pre-order.
5. Can I bring a friend?
A: Yes! Just be sure you buy an extra ticket for anyone you may want to join you. It’s not necessarily tied to your name. Just need an extra ticket.
