Geeky at Work: Amelia Pond doppelgangin'

I’ve confessed on BGC before that I’m new to Doctor Who. So when Liz asked me to don a work appropriate outfit inspired by a Scottish redhead who traveled through space and time, I was a little hesitant. Especially since Liz’s first step was to straighten my hair. (It’s usually very curly – see here.)

Liz then asked me to sit atop a suitcase as though I was patiently waiting for someone. I didn’t exactly know what I was doing, but it was a ton of fun. Later that week, I started watching Dr. Who, beginning with “Blink,” and then skipping ahead to the first episode with the Eleventh Doctor. When the Doctor left the little redheaded girl, promising to return in just a few moments, she went up to pack her suitcase – and it all became clear.

So here I am, dressed as Amy Pond (the girl who waited), in a Geeky at Work outfit – re: a longer skirt. (Editor’s Note: I have to admit that I purposely pushed Emma toward Miss Pond, because I thought they shared more in common than those lovely ginger locks.)

If only the 11th would drop from the sky and Rory would pop up on my front stoop. Then the story would be complete.

    Emma’s wearing:

    • Madewell Boot
    • Marc by Marc Jacobs Twill Jacket
    • Thick Knit Infinity Scarf
    • Maroon Tights
    • Vintage tweed skirt (Similar here)
    • Vintage suitcase
    • Gold cuff bangle (Similar here)

We’re enjoying 30 days of Doctor Who during the month of March on Being Geek Chic! Since the show is celebrating it’s 50th Anniversary and Series 7 is rebooting at the end of the month, it seemed like the perfect time to reflect on why we love the Doctor, wish we could apply for the job of Companion and create our own Sonic Screwdrivers. So while we can’t board the TARDIS, we can spend a ridiculous amount of time replicating Amelia Pond’s signature look. Tell your friends and stick around for more. Allonsy!
