I want to thank everyone that shared Tidal Wave Girls with their friends, colleagues, family and followers. It means a lot. It’s a terrifying thing to put your art into the universe. I don’t have the audience of filmmakers like Tiffany Shlain or Jessica Yu, but it means I’m grateful for literally every single pair of eyes and ears that take in my work.
Here’s some things that made me thankful for the universe this week:
I’m going to try this 7 minute workout for you. Since I already do many of these moves in my normal 40 minute workout, I’m not sure it will have the same results for me, but I’ll try.
The media wonders why young people don’t flock to their shitty subscriptions. Here’s a hint: you don’t get us. Thank God the tumblrverse pointed that out to Time Magazine. I hope the others are listening.

Broody bad attitudes abound in my house this week. It’s kind of like this:
Oh Sherlock, you get me. The snow isn’t just falling. It’s accumulating. This is an important distinction for Minnesotans. Fine if it wants to fall, as long as it melts. But I’m trying to be in a good mood. I’m trying to be thankful. Here’s some things that help:
PwnLove is the coolest instagram account out there. It’s run by the super chic Kaitlin Stewart who is on a quest to wear a gaming inspired outfit every single day for a year. That’s right: 365 days straight. Check out her cool interview with the Geeky Hostess. I honestly don’t think I could do it, so mad props to K. Stew. (Obviously, she’s the cooler one.)
One full week back in non-Doctor Who action and I feel a little like we have a hang-over. I’m not quite sure we have fallen back into things just yet. And this picture of my Gram wearing a bow tie covered dress isn’t helping. It’s just so damn adorable.
RIP, Grandma Ann, you feisty lady. I secretly like to imagine her running around space and time with the Doctor in this dress. Speaking of RIP, I’m so sad that Roger Ebert died. He was a gem.

I may not have agreed with him about every movie, but he was always insightful and never mean. You could always count on Ebert to write genuinely brilliant words on any subject, but he was especially beautiful when he wrote about film. I will miss hurrying off to his website as soon as a movie was over. See you at the movies, Rog.
Here’s some good stuff this week… and yes, I’m going WAY over four things this week, because it’s been a while since we have gone through this exercise together.
I’m not convinced I game enough anymore that it’s worth making the investment in the Nintendo 3DS, but when I posted this room inspiration from Professor Layton games on Apartment Therapy earlier this week, I was surprised to see so many people love the new Miracle Mask game. I think I might be stealing my bro’s 3DS for a titch this weekend…
So what say you? Do I need to make the jump? I’m curious to hear if other people are as obsessed as the AT readers.
Perhaps fun, childlike animation is the theme of the week. This post over at The Mary Sue featuring concept art for a Sherlock Holmes inspired animated series made me drool. For real. Why isn’t this a thing? Holmes and Watson are my favorite BFFs in the history of literature. They care about one another deeply, but they are not foolishly supportive. Each is unafraid of pointing out when the other is wrong while their other half takes care to never get their feelings hurt over it. I need to remember that in my own life.
I’m crafting this weekend as I prepare for a VERY EXCITING MARCH on this here blog. I can’t wait to announce it. But here’s a tiniest of tiny hints. I’m doing a DIY project that involves a stamp and this cool video courtesy of crafting gurus Whimseybox was a super big help. If you ever need to make a stamp of say… something that can travel through space and time… then that’s the video you need.
It’s already snowing like we’re on the other side of “The Wall” here in Minneapolis, so I’ve got big “hunker down” plans. Including a movie, a mani and a cup of tea. Every time it snows, this is my tradition. I won’t be THAT sad to see this ritual go in a few weeks. Just saying…

No pressure, but if you haven’t done so yet, I’d appreciate it if you could take a minute and tell us why you love to read this site or hate to read it. In that cause, you must love to torture yourself with dorky quips.
Can we talk about building community for a second? It’s freaking hard, but hot damn, when you find your army - it’s rewarding. I’ve been doing this blog for nearly 3 years and before that I had another satire blog I ran for about 2 years and it’s the thing that I find so difficult. There’s alot of other really great lady bloggers out there on the internets and if you aren’t reading their blogs, I recommend them. It’s like a dose of joy for me each week and I’m especially happy these ladies are around:
